The Pentagon announced on Tuesday that more than 800 service members who were kicked out of the military under the now-repealed “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy will receive honorable discharge upgrades.” I thank Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and everyone involved for helping gay soldiers receive an honorable discharge from the military after they were forced out because of homophobic rules that negatively harm our people and our nation. I agree with Mr. Austin: our people are essential to our survival and being gay has nothing to do with a person’s ability to do good work. Thank you for reconsidering this policy U.S. Military.
